EDGE is a community of progressive funders based internationally and committed to radical transformation of the philanthropic sector. Our community thrives on deep political conversations, mutual accountability, and a shared commitment to shifting power and rethinking the nature of philanthropy. As a nexus at which philanthropy meets activism, we provide the space where funders are pushed to take action. Discover them here below!
Our Mission
EDGE Funders Alliance supports the broader global movement to dismantle extractive funding systems while working to align resources with the priorities and visions of social movements to drive systemic change and justice.
‘Having a funder space where we can be open and honest about the challenges we face in philanthropy’
Forming a sense of community and building trust amongst members is a priority to achieve our mission. To do so, we provide intimate and informal human-centered spaces for members to authentically get to know each other, find connections and ****be honest about their power and commitment to transforming philanthropy.

Join the EDGEy Breakfast– a bi-monthly informal virtual get-together that fosters community building, allowing members in the same region to connect, exchange ideas, collaborate, and share knowledge.

Join EDGE Local Meetings - in-person gatherings that allow for collective sensemaking, shared strategizing, and identifying opportunities to advocate more effectively for transformative changes in philanthropy.
We want to ensure we are setting agendas in the sector related to the ending of extractive funding systems. Through the spaces below, we build ideology and political education. These spaces allow for knowledge to be exchanged amongst members, Movements and the wider sector. Members and partners showcase their work, build skills, and align narratives. Inspired by grassroots organizers around the world, EDGE’s learning spaces uplift the systemic alternatives that global justice movements are building.

Join EDGEy Wednesdays — a monthly virtual space for members to showcase global examples of radical and solidarity-based philanthropy, highlight relevant experimentation, and explore practical ways to dismantle extractive grantmaking practices.

Join the EDGE Public Webinars — a space for learning and dialogue around systemic change, offering new perspectives that can shift understanding and inspire action.

Join the Global Engagement Lab (GEL) — a nine-month international learning, organizing and community-building cohort for funders.
Entering its sixth year, the Global Engagement Lab is a training program for progressive funders, which fosters personal transformation and relationship-building in order to deepen philanthropy’s understanding and practice of systemic change.
The sixth 2026 cohort will meet twice in person and in between will be working online. Applications are now open!
Check more details about the program here.
We provide brave spaces that support our members in implementing and acting on their ideological and political education both regionally and globally. These spaces encourage experimentation, risk-taking and relying on the community for guidance.

Join EDGE Members Action PODs - a focused space for EDGE members to engage in actionable discussions over a set time period, moving beyond traditional dialogues to focus on practical problem-solving and one concrete outcome (a publication, a webinar, a campaign..etc).

Join EDGE Regional Retreats - annual convenings designed to provide opportunities for members to deepen relationships and foster collaboration across the same region.
